As used in this standard, shopin the term shop-weldedmeans either (1) a sprinkler contractor’s or fabricator’s premise or (2) an area specifically designed or authorized for welding, such as a detached outside location, maintenance shop, or other area (either temporary or permanent) of noncombustible or fire-resistive construction free of combustible and flammable contents and suitably segregated from adjacent areas.
