The second President of India was an eminent philosopher and writer who served in office from May 13, 1962 till May 13, 1967. He also held the position of Vice-Chancellor of Andhra and Banaras Hindu University. He received the nation's highest award of Bharat Ratna in 1954 apart from being made the Knight of Golden Army of Angels by Pope John VI.
