A collective term for the suite of inorganic chlorine compounds found in the atmosphere, including chlorine atoms (Cl), chlorine monoxide (ClO), hydrogen chloride (HCl), chlorine nitrate (ClNO₃), hypochlorous acid (HOCl), and chlorine monoxide dimer (Cl₂O₂). The interconversion of these compounds in the stratosphere leads to ozone depletion.
