Certain plants (mostly leguminous) that are capable of biological conversion of molecular dinitrogen (atmospheric nitrogen, or N₂) to organic combinations (nitrogen fixation), or to forms usable in biological processes, through the action of symbiotic rhizobia (bacteria) in the root nodules.
