Migration is the general movement of people who leave their place of origin in

a free search for a better life or who feel compelled to leave it. Migration for employment is the movement of people in search for work. At the beginning of the 21st century the ILO estimated that around 175 million people were living outside their home countries, including refugees. Of those, 86 million are estimated to be economically active.
