An orthorhombic mineral, (Mg,Fe)5Al2(Si6Al2O22)(OH)2; amphibole group, with Mg/(Mg + Fe) = 0.1-0.89; forms series with magnesiogedrite and ferrogedrite; common in schists, gneisses, and metasomatic rocks.
